On Friday night at the Cache County Fair, I won a $1000 in baby furniture from Stork Landing. It all started when Martha entered a radio contest a couple weeks ago. She advanced me to the next round, meaning I would be 1 of 40 people to play for the chance to win a Scion. A few days later, we received addition details in the mail indicating I was to check in behind the stage at the fair, and not to be late. I felt like Charlie freakin Bucket!
When I arrived, I waited in line with the other contestants to be issued my name tag, sign away the rights to use my image for capital gain, and receive the details of how the game would work. The game was sort of a mix between Deal or No Deal, a white elephant gift exchange, and Let's Make A Deal. There were a total of 40 "cases", one for each contestant. I was #20 so I got 20th choice of where to sit, so I chose case #17. If you are trying to picture it, just think of Deal or No Deal, only instead of models holding the case it was each contestant. To get the game going there needed to be someone in the "hot seat", someone to choose the order in which the cases were to be opened. The host drew a name to see who it would be. That person was chosen and they started "opening" cases. In each case was a prize ranging from a penny, an A&W combo meal, concert tickets, home theater system, and 2006 Scion XB. Whatever case a contestant opened was the prize they were awarded, everyone was going to leave with a prize no matter what. There were a few twists, though. In addition to a prize, some cases also contained wildcards, which meant freedom to swap prizes with another case holder. Other cases contained a posion, which meant swapping with the person in the hot seat. I don't remeber what prize my case contained, but I do remember it had a wildcard. My case was opened somewhere in the middle, so the Scion wasn't in play yet. However, there were some good prizes on the board. I had the choice to steal the home theater system, a .86 carat solitaire ring, a motor scooter, or $1000 in baby furniture from Stork Landing. When I chose the gift cert, the host gave me a funny look so I felt the need to explain.
"My wife is expecting twins next month!" I shouted.
"Twins??" He laughed and then suggested I might as well just head home right then because now everyone would feel bad stealing it. And nobody did. I didn't win the Scion but I had a lot of fun playing and $1000 isn't bad for one evening.

Wow! Perfect timing, right? Congrats!
Were you tempted with the home theater system or motor scooter at all? :) That is so awesome for you guys though. Have fun shopping!
Yes I was tempted alright...but I decided to take one for the team. Maybe this way I can justify my ongoing eBay purchases.
COOL!
That is a pretty cool prize. Too bad you didn't get the car.
