We went and saw a nutritionist today and she turned to Miriam and asked, "What kind of foods do you like to eat?" Miri quickly and enthusiastically answered, "Canny!"
haha.

Some St. Patties Thoughts
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
After today I'm pretty sure that the tradition of pinching those not wearing green was made up by young boys. Even though Rowan's version of pinching someone is more like a poke with the two fingers used to pinch, he still was all about it and didn't care what color we were wearing. Thankfully he kept his pinching to family members only :-)
TIL that the average American spends $39 celebrating the day and today I also learned that Burger King gives out FREE small fries with GREEN ketchup. So cheers to spending $39 less than the average American today!

Feeling this way lately...
The funny thing about this is that as I'm writing this both Miriam and Rowan are on my back climbing all over me and fighting over who is sitting where. :-)

Rowan's Discourse on Why Hitting People is Wrong
First off- Rowan is a pretty playful boy. He is champion at turning the mundane into a lively game and laughing when a situation has even a hint of humor. He has a lot of energy and sometimes it gets the better of him. At lunch today he was fighting with his sister over a stick of chapstick. (They are both obsessed with chapstick- especially Miriam.) So to solve the problem he not only grabbed it out of her hand but also hit her on the side of the face with it. She of course started to bawl and Rowan was sent to time out.
For only being 2 1/2 Row is excellent at time outs. He usually stays put and will even tell me or Keegan to start the timer if we haven't in the first 10 seconds. When the time is up he will tell me what he did wrong (without any prompts), give me a kiss and hug (complete with head lying on my shoulder) and be on his way. But today he had more to say than his usual "no-no hit Mi-iam." Instead he gave me a full two minute rant which began with "No hit Mi-iam and mom and dad and baby Giff and people." He included phrases like "Hit people and give them owies and cry and be sad" and "no hit people on head be sad." All of this was done with a LOT of facial expression and swinging his arms back and forth. I wish I could have recorded it because his inflection was the best! It was one of my prouder parenting moments to actually make it through without laughing at him!
TL:DR: After getting out of time-out Rowan gave a long rant about why he shouldn't hit people. :-)

Baby Haze
An old family friend once told me that after every baby she felt like she would come out of a haze after about six weeks to three months. Well, Griffith is now five months old and I'm finally feeling like the fog is lifting :-) A big thanks to Keegan for letting me take those Sunday naps or sleep in! It helped a ton! Good news we've all survived!

Weekend Picnic at the Park

This weekend we got together with Uncle Dalen and Aunt Karinne for some fun at the park. We ate some KFC, tossed a frisby, played in the little stream & on the swings, and just relaxed together. The babies didn't like the water because it was so cold, but they loved the swings.

Rowan enjoyed reaching up to get the leaves off the trees and Miriam was content to wear her new stylin' shades from Aunt Amber and be held.

Both going for the sophisticated look

Keegan came up with the perfect use for the bucket of chicken when we were all done with it :-)

I love how Miri's little head is poking out from behind him.

Update and pictures
I know its been a REALLY long time since I've blogged so here's a little update.
Miriam and Rowan have definitely gotten bigger and cuter. They're more responsive now which is SOO fun! They are smiling and cooing a lot and that makes those early mornings a little easier. :-) I will be super tired when 7:30 rolls around and they are ready to start their day but I can't help but smile back at them. Miriams a little talker. Roe jabbers but not quite as much as Miri. Maybe its a girl thing. ;-) Their favorite toy (which makes Rowan stop crying no matter how hard he's going at it) is an envelope that has the plastic address window. They like the sound of it and we like how long they are entertained by it.

We sing Christmas songs everyday together and they love looking at the Christmas lights that we hung inside. It's definitely a fun time of the year to have little babies! I've liked dressing them up for Christmas parties and snuggling with them while we watch a good Christmas flick. We haven't watched as many as I've wanted, but thats ok.

They aren't on too much of a schedule yet and its just hit or miss if they eat or wake at the same time. I'm okay with that for now though. The past two nights Miri has pretty much slept through the whole night and Rowan went for a five hour stretch. It was so nice! We'll see if that trend continues or if it was just a fluke since they didn't take naps those days. We are getting excited for our families to come and see them soon!

They're Here!
Miriam LaRae Garrity was born September 7th at 9:28 AM weighing 6 lbs, 6 oz. She was born with bright blond hair. One minute later, her dark-haired brother Rowan Everett Garrity was born weighing 6 lbs, 4 oz. They are both doing fantastic. Mom is recovering well, too. Only a few more weeks in bed, then she can FINALLY move around. We should be able to leave the hospital on Thursday or Friday. Thanks for all your love and support.
