We safely made it to Oregon and back for our Christmas break. The roads were pretty scary though! Thankfully I drove the Idaho leg on the way there and the roads weren't too bad. Keegan and I kept checking and checking the weather the week before we left, and on Thursday officially decided that we should leave as soon as possible on Friday. So after picking up Mikey and his Street Fighter II arcade, we headed out of town. The farther we got the more reports we heard of all of the upcoming storms that were going to hit the Columbia River Gorge area, so we decided to keep driving all through the night instead of stopping in Boise. Keegan drove through the Blue Mountains and Mikey drove through the Gorge. All of us were pretty scared at times! Keegan said it was like driving through a car wash :-) He also admitted it was one of the most terrifying experiences of his life. We were both very glad that the way back was pretty much clear. We really enjoyed being home over the break and realized it would probably be the last time we would both be able to take two full weeks off (while getting paid)! It was great to see friends and family and participate in some of the great holiday traditions that our families have. Christmas wouldn't feel the same if we didn't watch It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve, or eat See's Candies by the fire, or play games together. The last few years Keegan's family has invited all of my family over to their Christmas Eve Party which has always been really fun. I'm glad we live so close and all get along! We played an intense round of guys against girls Geusstures and of course had the incredible food spread that everyone loves. (I've never seen a better one!) Mikey was the self-appointed interviewer as he went around the party with the video camera making a little film for Kess to watch since he's in Alburquerque on his mission. (Wow! I spelled that right my first try!) Some of the questions asked of the patrons included, "If you HAD to kill one member of your immediate family or else all of them would die, who would it be?" or, "What is your most grevious sin?" or to Kessler's girlfriend...."So, why don't you tell us about all of the guys you've been dating at college why Kess is away!" ;-) It was quite entertaining.
All in all the Christmas break was just what we needed and it was hard to come back to reality!
